For more than 140 years, Forest Park has functioned as a proverbial playground for the citizens of St. Louis. This green expanse of trees and pathways, hills and fields and winding ribbons of water perched just inside the city, has served as a site for recreation, education and gatherings of all types—from a simple, family picnic to the landmark 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition. Generations of St. Louisans and tourists have enjoyed all that Forest Park has to offer.
Forest Park can be explored by many modes of transportation, but the best way to know its paths and treasures is by foot. On a walking tour, visitors are able to take the time to appreciate the Park’s historical markers and natural wonders, there for discovery.
