The Adventures of "Bubbles" (the book) Continue...
Such a lovely day in St. Louis today! I have spent the last few days taking care of our girl, Bubbles and let me tell you, those mornings have been COLD.
I kid you not when I say that I started each day with a solid six layers on. Wool baselayer, Zoo shirt, wool sweater, fleece sweatshirt, fleece coat, Zoo coat. For real.
But today? Just lovely. Winter is a comin’ though and in Bubbles Land that just means more school visits and holiday books signings!
Today I had a great day at The Wilson School and the Zoo’s holiday marketplace.
Though, I have a confession.
I didn’t do my laundry.
Yes, shameful, I know, but I decided to spend my “friday” evening (aka Wednesday) visiting with good friends rather than slaving away in front of the gaping maw of the washer.
And so, I didn’t wash my pants. In fact, I didn’t really even think twice about it until this morning when I started to get dressed for The Wilson School visit.
Did I mention that I spent the last two days (yes, I doubled up pants days too, yikes, I’m really putting it all out there…) taking care of Bubbles and her friends the burros, sheep and alpacas? Barnyard animals, folks.
No matter, thought I to myself at 7:00 am. There is no visible dirt. And I’ll only have them on for the morning.
So I wore those pants.
Everything was going quite well. The Wilson School students are adorable, curious and made for a great audience. One little girl seemed to enjoy the presentation so much, in fact, that she decided to give me a hug!
Around the legs.
Immediately, this girl pulls away, looks up at me and says loudly, for the whole class to hear, “why do your pants smell like goats?”
Well, what can I say?
Don’t worry, Caledonia Elementary, the pants are currently in the dryer!
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s visit! Clean pants and all.
